Hidden Waters: Groundwater Histories of Iran and the Mediterranean

Abigail Schade studies traditional technologies of groundwater irrigation associated with arid regions in Iran, the Ancient Near East, and parts of the ancient and medieval Mediterranean. She is a graduate student at Columbia University and received a Dissertation Research Fellowship for using Philadelphia area archives for her research.  Here is a report of her work.
