HoS Micropost: Simon Schaffer on Astronomy and Empire
Thanks to Will Thomas over at Ether Wave Propaganda for his post reminding me about Simon Schaffer’s Tarner Lectures: “‘When the stars threw down their spears’: History of Astronomy and Empire.” About a month ago I had stumbled across mention of Schaffer’s up-coming lectures and posted a note on Twitter but since then had forgotten them.
Schaffer will give four lectures:
- A Pattern Science — podcast
- An Antique Land — podcast
- A Disciplined Eye — podcast
- A World Elsewhere — podcast
Podcasts of the lectures will be available for download from the Tarner Lectures site (The first two are already posted). Go download them before they disappear.
