James Burke’s “Connections” on YouTube

Posted by Simon Joseph on 02/28 at 02:47 PM

For those of you interested in a popular (as opposed to strictly academic) show on the history of technology, it has recently come to my attention that James Burke’s Connections (and sequels) has become available, in its entirety, for free. You can access the full episode list here, where the links will take you to a YouTube playlist for each episode.

Despite being a bit dated (the original series aired in 1978) and possibly not up to the standards of current historians of science, the program can definitely serve as an educational tool for those persons interested in a brief overview of the lineage of certain technologies.
