Young Charles Darwin

Posted by Babak Ashrafi on 03/04 at 10:23 AM

Keith Thomson talks about the young Charles Darwin on NPR.  Keith has written several books about Darwin and evolution, including: The Young Charles Darwin (2009); The Legacy of the Mastodon: The Golden Age of Fossils in America (2008); Before Darwin: Reconciling God and Nature (2005); and H M S Beagle: The Story of Darwin’s Ship (1995).  He has run the Oxford Museum of Natural History, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, and the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale.  While Keith has held distinguished teaching, research, and administrative positions at fancy institutions, surely none compares to being one of the directors of PACHS.

You can hear the interview at National Public Radio.  The comments there make for fun reading.

You can meet Keith Thomson and hear him talk about “The Young Charles Darwin” in person on April 3 at the APS’s Franklin Hall, 6:00 p.m.  This is a Friends of the APS Library program, and Keith will be signing books after the presentation.  See the listing under our Events tab for details and info about responding.
