Generally attributed to Joseph Nancrede, whose name is first among those receiving subscriptions in Boston. Although the paper was apparently never published, the Salem gazette of Feb. 25, 1794 contains an advertisement stating that subscriptions will be taken at Carlton's bookstore in Salem for "A weekly paper, in the French language, to be published in Boston."
