Magic Lantern: The Dreams of the Plants

In “The Dreams of the Plants,” artist Eve Andrée Laramée explores Darwin’s ideas on the movement of plants, riffing on a chapter he wrote about leaves that curl up at night and “sleep.” If leaves sleep, Laramée asks wryly, then what do they dream?
