Darwin, Descent of Man: embryos

In this book, where Darwin addressed human evolution for the first time, he showed the similarity between the embryos of a human and a dog. Since direct fossil evidence of human ancestors was not available in his time, Darwin turned to the development of embryos, which provided him with evidence for the common ancestry of all vertebrates, including humans.
