ABOUT THE SECRET CINEMA
Jay Schwartz began the Secret Cinema in 1992, after collecting film prints for nearly twenty years. The Secret Cinema presents only original 16mm (and sometimes 35mm) films, never DVD or other video formats. The mission of the Secret Cinema is to celebrate the beauty and historical importance of projected celluloid, and to present films that would otherwise not be seen. Schwartz has shown films in many locations around Philadelphia and the world, ranging from a small living room to places such as University of Pennsylvania, Moore College of Art, and Eastern State Penitentiary.
